Alberta Cardston Cougars

Coming from Alberta, the Cardston Cougars will be bringing a fierce game to the 66th
LIT! Last year, they finished first in their league and second provincially and were champions of
their own tournament in December of 2017. The Cardston Cougars won LIT in 1996, and will be
bringing their best again this year. The team and coaches focus heavily on leadership and
building quality characteristics of respect, communication, and hard work to advance their
team’s skills and placement in their regional league. Their undeniable achievements come from
hours upon hours a week of working hard in games and practices, as well as treating
teammates and others off the court respectfully to maintain a strong balance of friendship and
sportsmanship. Ty Lewis, a grade twelve player on the team, was awarded MVP of the Cougar
Classic Tournament in December, and grade eleven, Taylor Barfuss, won All Star player in the
Raymond Sugar Bowl. This team is incredibly strong, well-coached, guided by teamwork and
connectedness among the players and will be exciting to watch this year!
